The Actors’ Gang will present six workshop performances of a new adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. Performances are May 4, 5, 9, 10, and 16, 17 at 8pm.

Conrad’s celebrated short story tells the tale of Charlie Marlow, a sailor with a taste for adventure who uses his family ties to secure for him a position as captain of a steam boat heading up the Congo River. His mission is to recover a cache of ivory from a renegade trader by the name of Kurtz. Along the way, Marlowe discovers the futility, ineptitude and folly of Colonialism, and learns deep truths about the nature of light and the heart of darkness.

Heart of Darkness is adapted and performed by Brian Finney and directed by Keythe Farley.
