The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs has announced the nominees for its 2003 MAC Awards, to be presented on Monday, April 14, in a ceremony beginning at 7:30pm at The Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street.
In addition to the winners in competitive categories, MAC will honor jazz pianist Barbara Carroll with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz and singer Mary Cleere Haran will be honored with Board of Directors Awards. The awards ceremony, to be produced by Barry Levitt and directed by Lennie Watts, will include live performances and/or appearances by such artists as Steven Brinberg, Alison Bryner, Ann Hampton Callaway, Joan Crowe, Tommy Femia, Michael Holland, Lina Koutrakos, Jay Leonhart, Karen Mack, Sharon McNight, Karen Mason, Mark Nadler, Phyllis Pastore, Bobby Peaco, Christine Pedi, Eric Pickering, Ron Poole, Anne Runolfsson, Richard Skipper, Billy Stritch, Chuck Sweeney, and Julie Wilson.
Bobby Short and Michael Feinstein will present Barbara Carroll with her Lifetime Achievement Award. Ben Vereen will be on hand to present Stephen Schwartz with his Board of Directors Award and perform with other artists in a medley of Schwartz’s songs. Colette Hawley and Jay Rogers will share the stage as emcees of the event, and David Maiocco will serve as musical director.
