On Thursday, January 6, The New Group celebrated the start of their 2011 season, which opens with a production of Tommy Nohilly’s
Blood From A Stone at Theatre Row’s
Acorn Theater starring Gordon Clapp, Ann Dowd, Thomas Guiry, Ethan Hawke, Natasha Lyonne, and Daphne Rubin-Vega.
The play, which officially opens on January 12, focuses on a blue-collar family in Connecticut and its struggles to hold things together on a daily basis. The production is directed by Scott Elliott, and has now extended through February 19.
Other attendees included David Cale, Josh Charles, Billy Crudup, Sophie Flack, Chloë Sevigny, Lucas Steele, and Frank Whaley.
The season also includes a revival of Wallace Shawn’s Marie and Bruce, March 3-April 23, starring Oscar winner Marisa Tomei; and One-Arm, which is based on a Tennessee Williams short story and will be a collaboration with the Tectonic Theater Project. Moises Kaufman serves as writer, adapter, and director of the piece, which will run May 5-25.
