Ned Sherrin Dies at 76 logo

Ned Sherrin, the British broadcaster and writer best known to American audiences for his work in the Broadway revue Side by Side by Sondheim, died in England on October 1 from throat cancer, according to the BBC. He was 76.

Sherrin directed the revue as well as acted as its narrator, which earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

In England, Sherrin was known as the creator of the satirical BBC television show That Was The Week That Was, the host of the long-running series Loose Ends, and the BBC Radio 4 music quiz Counterpoint.

Sherrin was made a Commander of the British Empire in 1997.
