Michael Chernus, Julia Mattison, S. Epatha Merkerson, Ron Rifkin Set for Powerhouse Theater Readings Festival

Casting has been announced for New York Stage and Film and Vassar College’s Powerhouse Theater‘s Readings Festival 2, to run July 27-29 at the Susan Stein Shiva Theater.

Billy Porter‘s While Yet I Live, directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskander, will be read on Friday, July 27 at 8pm by a cast including Bryan Terrell Clark, Susan Heyward, Larry Marshall, S. Epatha Merkerson, Myra Lucretia Taylor, Shona Tucker, Akilah Walker, and Sharon Washington.

Saturday, July 28 will see Untitled World’s Fair Play, written by Hannah Bos & Paul Thureen, directed by Oliver Butler (all of The Debate Society), featuring Pun Bandhu, Griffin Birney, Bos, Jim Poulos, Reg Rogers, and Corey Sullivan (12pm); as well as Ron Lagomarsino’s Jerome directed by Maria Mileaf, with Chris Bauer,
Michael Chernus, Robert Clohessy, Peter Gerety, and Eric Gold (8pm).

Nathan Englander’s The Twenty-Seventh Man, directed by Barry Edelstein, will be read on Sunday, July 29 at 12pm, with a cast including Ross Carmichael, Robert Dorfman, Daniel Oreskes, Richard Poe, Ron Rifkin, and Noah Robbins.

Also on July 29, at 5pm, Warren Leight and Todd Almond’s musical adaptation of A Separate Peace will be read, with direction by Stafford Arima and musical direction by J. Oconer Navarro. The cast will feature Jessica Barr, Richard Cerato, Pierce Cravens, Curt Hansen, Brian Charles Johnson, Julia Mattison, Matt McGrath, Gabrielle Stravelli, and Christopher Wood.

Reservations for the reading are filled, and admission is by wait-list only.
