Amy Spanger, Shaina Taub, and More Set as Guest Performers for The Jonathan Larson Project
Lesser-known works by the Rent composer will be on display this October at Feinstein's/54 Below.
Special guest performers have been announced for The Jonathan Larson Project, running from October 9-14 at Feinstein's/54 Below.
Larson died at the age of 35 and was posthumously awarded Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for his groundbreaking musical Rent. The Jonathan Larson Project is an evening of the composer's unheard work from never-produced shows like 1984 and Superbia, as well as songs that were cut from Rent and Tick, Tick...BOOM!, songs that were written for theatrical revues and radio, among others.
Each performance will feature a different special guest — the roster currently including Paul Scott Goodman, Amanda Green, Joe Iconis, Brian Lowdermilk, Shaina Taub, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Amy Spanger, Jerry Dixon, Matthew McCollum, Dylan McCollum, and Jay Armstrong Johnson, with more to be announced. Directed and conceived by Jennifer Ashley Tepper, the primary cast will feature Nick Blaemire (Tick, Tick...BOOM!), Lauren Marcus (Be More Chill), Andy Mientus (Spring Awakening), Destinee Rea (Amélie), and George Salazar (Be More Chill).
Performances will include a five-piece band composed of musical director Natalie Tenenbaum, Charlie Rosen, Cody Owen Stine, Megan Talay, and Marques Walls. Rosen also lends music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements.
