Tony Award winner John Gallagher, Jr. will play the role of Lee in the Broadway cast of Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem. As previously reported, Ian Rickson will direct the production, which is scheduled to begin performances on April 2 at the Music Box Theatre, in anticipation of an official opening on April 21.

The play, originally seen at London's Royal Court Theatre, focuses on Rooster, a former daredevil motorcyclist and modern-day Pied Piper. As previously announced, the Broadway company will include Mark Rylance who will be reprising his performance as Rooster, and Mackenzie Crook, who will once again play Rooster's friend Ginger.

Newly announced cast members also include Max Baker as Wesley, Geraldine Hughes as Dawn and Molly Ranson as Pea, alongside seven members of the original Royal Court and West End company: Alan David as The Professor, Aimeé-Ffion Edwards as Phaedra, Danny Kirrane as Davey, Charlotte Mills as Tanya, Sarah Moyle as Ms. Fawcett, Harvey Robinson as Mr. Parsons and Barry Sloane as Troy Whitworth. Aiden Eyrick and Mark Page alternate in the role of Marky.

The production will feature the Olivier Award-winning design by Ultz, with lighting design by Mimi Jordan Sherin and sound design by Ian Dickinson for Autograph. Stephen Warbeck will serve as composer.

Gallagher is currently appearing on Broadway in American Idiot. He won a Tony Award for his work in Spring Awakening and made his Broadway debut in Rabbit Hole. Among his other stage credits are Kimberly Akimbo, Port Authority, and Farragut North, Off-Broadway.
