Hal Holbrook to Appear on NBC’s The Event

Tony Award winner Hal Holbrook will be seen in a multi-episode arc on NBC’s forthcoming serial thriller The Event, according to a report on EW.com. The series is set to premiere on September 20.

Holbrook will play a mysterious character by the name of Dempsey on The Event, which centers on a man who, while searching for his missing girlfriend, stumbles on a government conspiracy. The series also stars stage veterans Jason Ritter, Blair Underwood, and Zeljko Ivanek.

Holbrook won the Tony for the solo show Mark Twain Tonight, with which he continues to tour. His many other Broadway credits include An American Daughter, Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? , I Never Sang for My Father, and The Apple Tree.

He was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Into the Wild. In addition, Holbrook is a five-time Emmy Award winner; his many television credits include Lincoln, Evening Shade, Designing Women, and currently, Sons of Anarchy.
