Glenn Close will play the role of Dr. Emma Brookner in a 25th anniversary reading of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart, on October 18 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Tony Award winner and Oscar winner Joel Grey will direct this benefit for the Actors Fund and Friends In Deed.

Close joins previously reported cast members Victor Garber, Jason Butler Harner, John Benjamin Hickey, Joe Mantello, Jack McBrayer, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Patrick Wilson. The play focuses on the terrifying early years of the AIDS epidemic in New York. Grey appeared in the original 1985 Off-Broadway production. Mantello will play the central role of Ned Weeks (based upon Kramer himself).

Close won Tony Awards for her roles in The Real Thing, Death and the Maiden, and Sunset Boulevard, and received a Tony nomination for Barnum. She is five-time Oscar nominee, and has won two Emmy Awards for her performance in the FX series Damages and another Emmy for the television movie Serving in Silence: The Margerethe Cammermeyer Story.
