Broadway's Best Gather to Cheer Heidi Blickenstaff at Freaky Friday Premiere

The upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie adaptation of Tom Kitt, Brian Yorkey, and Bridget Carpenter's Freaky Friday musical held its premiere at the Beacon Theatre on Monday, July 30.
Starring Broadway favorite Heidi Blickenstaff and actor-singer Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Freaky Friday will air on Friday, August 10. Blickenstaff and Zuehlsdorff play Katherine and Ellie, a mother and daughter who swap bodies and are forced to spend a day in each other's shoes. Also starring are Ricky He, Alex Désert, Jason Maybaum, Kahyun Kim, Dara Renee, Jennifer Laporte, Isaiah Lehtinen, and Sarah Willey.
Inspired by the recent stage musical adaptation of the property, the film version of Freaky Friday will feature eight songs from the show by Next to Normal Tony winners Kitt and Yorkey, as well as two new ones, including one cowritten by Zuehlsdorff. The script is written by Carpenter, who penned the book of the musical. Freaky Friday is inspired by the novel by Mary Rodgers.
Steve Carr directs and executive-produces the film, with John Carrafa serving as choreographer. The creative team also includes David Lawrence (score), Perry Andelin Blake (production design), Angus Strathie (costume design), Thomas Schumacher (executive producer), and Susan Cartsonis (executive producer).
