Billy Crudup, James McDaniel, Martha Plimpton, Cynthia Vance, Emily Dorsch, Jeanine Serralles, Elizabeth Marvel, Dominic Colon, Elliot Villar, Jeremy Beck, Eliza Baldi, Jordan Mahome, and Lee Wilkof will perform in Can Do!: Plays on the Bright Side, written by inner-city child participants in The 52nd Street Project. Performances will be held at the Public Theater, April 3-5.

The 52nd Street Project’s semi-annual Playmaking series begins with ten children completing a nine-week playwriting course. At the end, the kids are taken (along with their volunteer adult dramaturge/director) out of town for a “writer’s retreat” in the countryside. After writing their own plays, each child is given a professional cast to complete the expression of his or her personal vision.

The dramaturge-directors will include Kathleen Foreman, George Babiak, Henry Wishcamper, David Costabile, Sonia Manzano, Liz Flahive, Alex Gersten, Niegel Smith, and Michael Bernard. The show will feature music by Andrew Sherman.

Admission is free, but reservations should be made in advance by calling 212-642-5052.
