F. Murray Abraham, Edward Albee, Jason Alexander, Jane Fonda, Robert Klein, and Martin Short are among the artists who will appear this fall at the 92nd Street Y.

Short, whose new Broadway show Fame Becomes Me is now in previews, will come to the Y to speak with Dick Cavett on September 17. Alexander, a Tony Award winner for Jerome Robbins' Broadway, and Klein, whose Broadway credits include They're Playing Our Song and The Sisters Rosensweig, will team up for the lecture Actors on Acting on October 3. Albee and playwright Terrence McNally, director Harold Prince, and actress Kathleen Chalfant will read from the new book The Alchemy of Theatre on October 29.

Abraham, who won an Academy Award for his work in Amadeus, will perform monologues from that piece in a November 5 program that will also feature the Zukerman Chamber Players, and he will read scenes from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and Christopher Marlowe's The Jew of Malta on December 6. Fonda, who received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in There Was a Little Girl, will discuss her memoir, My Life So Far, on November 14.

Judy Gold, who earned rave reviews for her solo show 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother, will participate in three different programs at the Y. On September 13, she will join Lewis Black, Todd Barry, and other comics and writers in "Homage to Lenny Bruce and Free Speech"; on October 16, she'll give a lecture as part of the Y's "Funny People" series; and on December 17, she'll join actress Jackie Hoffman for a panel discussion entitled "What's So Funny About Jews?"

Other programs of note include a reading by playwright Sam Shepard (November 2) and interviews with former New York Times chief critic Frank Rich (October 17), author/playwright Gore Vidal (November 9), and composer Stephin Merritt (November 27).
