Producer Ken Davenport and Mark Allen's rockin' new musical comedy is set to premiere at George Street Playhouse this September.
George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey will present a world premiere production of Garage Band, a new musical, for a limited five-week engagement. Garage Band features a book by producer Ken Davenport in collaboration with The Grundleshotz, a group of performers and writers including Sebastian Arcelus (Elf), Fred Berman (The Lion King), Michael Hirstreet (The Art of the Pick-Up), Jenna Coker-Jones (Evil Dead: The Musical), Craig Jorczak (The Awesome '80s Prom), Nathan Kaufman (Beyond Therapy), Jay Klaitz (Lend Me A Tenor), Emily McNamara (NEWSical The Musical), Jennifer Miller (My First Time), Bhavesh Patel (War Horse), Sarah Saltzberg (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and Fletcher Young (The Awesome '80s Prom). The Grundleshotz helped develop Garage Band through a series of improvisational rehearsals. The rockin' musical comedy will have music and lyrics by Mark Allen (Tinyard Hill) with additional material by Sarah Saltzberg. Garage Band is sure to rock your world. Casting and complete creative team information for this new musical will be announced soon.
The tuner follows 40-year-old Mitch Shapiro's mission to reunite his old rock band after moving back home to the Garden State. When Shapiro is fired from his Wall Street job, he sets out to get his band back together to perform at a high-stakes battle of the bands. This Jersey boy's homecoming reunites best friends, ex-girlfriends, and high school bullies who seem to have never grown up, and a hot New Jersey mom, all in the name of Rock 'n' Roll.
Garage Band will hit the George Street stage September 24-October 27. For more information on this rad production and upcoming ticket sales, please visit George Street Playhouse's website here.
