The cast of the Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens’ Once on This Island met the press Tuesday, May 22 at The New 42nd Street Studios. The production will run May 30-June 24 under the direction of Thomas Kail.
As previously announced, American Idol finalist Syesha Mercado will star as Ti Moune. She is joined by Darius de Haas (Agwe), Kevin R. Free (Tonton Julian), Adam Jacobs (Daniel), Kenita R. Miller (Mama Euralie), Alan Mingo, Jr. (Papa Ge), Courtney Reed (Andrea), Saycon Sengbloh (Erzulie), Jerold E. Solomon (Armand/Daniel’s Father), Aurelia Williams (Asaka), and Courtney Harris (Little Ti Moune).
The Carribbean adaptation of the story The Little Mermaid will feature choreography by Bradley Rapier, with new orchestrations by music director Lynne Shankel. The creative team also includes Donyale Werle (set design), Jessica Jahn (costume design), Kenneth Posner (lighting design), Randy Hansen (sound design), and Bettie O. Rogers (hair and wig design).
