The Hollywood Bowl has announced its 2010 summer programming, which will include a production of Jonathan Larson’s Rent (August 6-8). Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic’s music director, Gustavo Dudamel, will make three appearances at the Bowl, including one on August 5 when he will conduct a concert which will feature George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and selections from Leonard Bernstein’s On the Town as well as Ravel’s “Bolero” and other pieces. The outdoor venue will also be home to a concert performance of Bernstein’s Candide (September 2) and Oscar-winning film composer John Williams conducting two concerts featuring movie scores from the golden age of Hollywood, as well as some of Williams’ own compositions (August 27-28). As the summer season at the Hollywood Bowl winds down, the Sing-A-Long Sound of Music will return for a one-night-only performance on September 25.

Other artists scheduled to perform are Femi Kuti and the Positive Force (July 6), Smokey Robinson (July 14), Joshua Bell (July 15), Dianne Reeves (July 21), and Harry Connick, Jr. (August 13-14).
