Debra Jo Rupp Will Star in Bekah Brunstetter's The Cake

Debra Jo Rupp will reprise her award-winning performance in the Geffen Playhouse's upcoming production of Bekah Brunstetter's The Cake, directed by Jennifer Chambers.
Rupp will play Della, a North Carolina baker and devout Christian, whose faith and beliefs are put to the test when she is asked to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding. Rupp earned an LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award for her work during the dark comedy's world premiere run at Echo Theater Company in 2017. She returned to the role earlier this summer for Barrington Stage Company.
The complete company will also include Morrison Keddie, Shannon Lucio, Rod McLachlan, and Carolyn Ratteray. The design team is made up of Pete Hickok (scenic designer), Elizabeth Caitlin Ward (costume designer), Pablo Santiago (lighting designer), and Jeff Gardner (sound design).
Previews for The Cake begin Monday, September 10, with opening night on Thursday, September 20. The production closes on Sunday, October 21.
