Daniel Evans to Star in Company at Crucible Theatre in 2011

Daniel Evans will star in Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Company at Sheffields Theatres’ Crucible Theatre in December 2011. Jonathan Munby will direct the production, which will have designs by Christpher Oram.

The musical focuses on Robert (Evans), a bachelor who attempts to justify his fear of commitment by what he sees happening in the worlds of his married friends. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Evans won an Olivier Award for his performance in Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along and won the Olivier and received a Tony nomination for his portrayal of Georges/George in Sunday in the Park With George. He is artistic director of Sheffield Theatres where he has appeared in Cloud Nine and The Tempest. Other stage credits include work with the Donmar Warehouse, Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Court Theatre and National Theatre.
