Melissa Benoist, Katharine McPhee, Alex Newell Take Part in Stars in the Alley
The Broadway League presented its annual Stars in the Alley concert in Shubert Alley on Friday, June 1.
This year's concert was hosted by Alex Newell, currently starring in Once on This Island. Performers included Katharine McPhee (Waitress), Melissa Benoist (soon to play the title role in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), and Tyler Glenn (Kinky Boots), as well as Tony nominees Anthony Boyle (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Joshua Henry (Carousel), Hailey Kilgore (Once on This Island), Taylor Louderman (Mean Girls), and Ari'el Stachel (The Band's Visit). Performances from 2018 Tony-nominated musicals including Frozen, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical were also featured.
The outdoor show, produced by the Broadway League and sponsored by United Airlines, celebrated the end of the 2017-18 Broadway season and added to the festivities leading up to the 2018 Tony Awards on June 10.
