August: Osage County, Dreamgirls, In the Heights, et al. Set for Broadway Across America – Boston

Broadway Across America — Boston has announced its upcoming 2009-2010 season, which will include eleven productions at The Colonial Theatre and the Boston Opera House.

The season will kick off with Chaim Topol starring in his farewell tour of Fiddler on the Roof (Opera House, November 3-15). The 2004 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Avenue Q will play the Colonial, November 17-22. Manheim Steamroller will stop by the Colonial on December 5 for a limited holiday engagement. The smash hit Mamma Mia! will return to Boston December 15-27, at the Colonial.

The new year will start out with the arrival of 2008 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, In the Heights (Opera House, January 12-24). The new touring production of Dreamgirls, directed and choreographed by Robert Longbottom, will play the Colonial, February 2-14. Disney’s The Lion King will play the Opera House, February 16-March 21. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats will take over the Colonial, April 13-18.

The new Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein will play the Opera House, April 20-May 2. Estelle Parsons stars in the national tour of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, August: Osage County (Colonial, May 4-16). The season will conclude with the musical Grease, at the Boston Opera House, June 1-13.
