Emil Weinstein is a writer and director whose work spans theater, television, and filmmaking. He graduated from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, where he directed the first workshop production of Slave Play by Jeremy O. Harris. His productions as a theater director include Twelfth Night and Romeo & Juliet at Two River Theater, Comedy of Errors and As You Like It (upcoming) at the Old Globe, and developmental work with EnGarde Arts, Rattlestick Theater, Shakespeare and Company, and New York Theatre Workshop. For television, Emil worked as a staff writer on Amazon’s “A League of Their Own,” and directed four episodes for the final season of “The L Word Generation Q” for Showtime. His short films “Candace” and “In France Michelle is a Man’s Name” played at festivals around the world, winning multiple awards including two Academy Award Qualifying Grand Jury Prizes. Becoming Eve is Emil’s Off-Broadway playwriting debut. Emil is a transgender man and uses he/him pronouns.
