René Auberjonois, Paloma Herrera and Cory Stearns, the Julliard Jazz Artists Diploma Ensemble, Bronson Pinchot, Frederica Von Stade and actors from the Shakespeare Theatre Company will perform at the theater’s Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala, to be held on Sunday, October 3 at Sidney Harman Hall.

As previously announced, the event will feature the presentation of The William Shakespeare Award, also known as the Will Award, to stage and screen star Annette Bening. The Will Award is an annual honor presented by the company to recognize an artist who has made a significant contribution to classical theater in America. In addition, the HRH Foundation (Helen Lee Henderson, Executive Director) will be awarded the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy

The performance will feature the artists offering an array of interpretations of Shakespeare’s Italian plays: The Merchant of Venice, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, Romeo and Juliet and The Taming of the Shrew.

Bening’s stage credits include the Broadway production of Coastal Disturbances, for which she received a Tony nomination, as well as Medea, Hedda Gabler, and The Female of the Species. She is a three time Academy Award nominee, and perhaps best known for her performance in American Beauty. She can currently be seen in the film The Kids Are All Right.
