Derrick Sanders to Direct Javon Johnson’s Sanctified at Lincoln Theatre

Derrick Sanders will direct Javon Johnson’s Sanctified, to run October 21-November 14 at the Lincoln Theatre. Rollo A Dilworth will provide the original music for the piece. Casting will be announced at a later date.

The play focuses on a Baptist church that has fallen on hard times and the ways in which its ambitious pastor and his congregation attempt to save it.

Johnson’s other plays include Breathe, Recipes for Love, Whatever She Wants, Cheaters, Hambone, and Cryin’ Shame, among others.

Sanders received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for his production of King Hedley II at Signature Theatre. His recent credits include Jitney at True Colors Theatre; Topdog/Underdog and Five Fingers of Funk at Minneapolis Children’s Theatre; and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone at CenterStage.
