CENTERSTAGE has announced additional details for its new initiative My America, 50 new monologues by 50 of America’s leading and emerging playwrights, all filmed by filmmaker Hal Hartley. The films will have their premiere presentation on September 28 at 7 pm at CENTERSTAGE.

My America is an exploration of the state of the country through the eyes of its playwrights, who were asked to explore the question, “What is my America?” Writers who have worked on the project range from Christopher Durang, Marcus Gardley, and Quiara Alegría Hudes to Neil LaBute, Anna Deavere Smith, and Lynn Nottage.

Actors featured in the filmed monologues include Tracie Thoms, Carrie Preston, Michael Emerson, Terry O’Quinn, Bobby Cannavale, Kathleen Chalfant, Jefferson Mays, and Kristine Nielsen.

After the September 29 premiere of the films, they will have a staggered release online at CENTERSTAGE’s website, culminating on Election Day, November 6.
