The piece is based on Ensler's novel I Am an Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World. Staged. The show will be comprised of original monologues and songs about and for girls, and the diversity and commonality of the issues they face.

Ensler's The Vagina Monologues has been translated into 48 languages and performed in over 140 countries. Her other plays include The Good Body and Here. She has also written the memoir Insecure at Last, and co-edited, with Mollie Doyle, the anthology A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and a Prayer. In addition, she is the creator of V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls.
