The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey has announced the productions set for its 2012 season, which will include the musical Man of La Mancha (October 17-November 18), starring Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli, and directed by the company’s artistic director, Bonnie J. Monte.
Opening the season will be Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part One (May 30-June 24), directed by Joseph Discher. Then, the theater will present Pierre Corneille’s French farce The Liar (July 4-29) in an adaptation by David Ives directed by Paul Mullins. Monte will direct Measure for Measure (August 8-August 26). The season’s annual Outdoor Stage production at the Greek amphitheater at the College of St. Elizabeth will be The Comedy of Errors (June 20-July 29), directed by Jason King Jones.
Neil Bartlett’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist (September 12-October 7) will launch the fall portion of the season, in a production directed by Brian B. Crowe. Following the above-mentioned Man of La Mancha, the season will close with Arthur Wing Pinero’s romantic comedy Trelawny of the Wells (December 5-30).
The season will also include a selection of special events including dramatic readings Something Wicked This Way Comes and Something Merry This Way Comes and the play reading series Lend Us Your Ears.
