Florida Kids Spotlight: July '07
In Central Florida, the Orlando Repertory Theatre has coordinated the first Target Family Theatre Festival (July 12-22). For the kids in the south of the Sunshine State, the Kravis Center has My Little Pony LIVE! The World's Biggest Tea Party (July 13-15) and the Broward Center hosts France's Coatimundi Puppet Theater for four very special performances of Hats Off to the Sea (July 20-21), an interactive puppet adventure that tells the story of Seraphin, who takes a trip across the sea, fights a dragon, discovers a mermaid's secret, and finally achieves his heart's desire.

DC Metro Kids Spotlight: July '07
Parents who are looking to cool off with their kids should check out The Magical Balloon (July 14-August 19) at Arlington's Classika Theatre. Staged by members of Classika's partner company, the acclaimed Synetic Theatre, it features Irakli Kavsadze in a show created by Paata Tsikurishvili and choreographed by Irina Tsikurishvili.

Chicago Kids Spotlight: July '07
Sing a song to your sons and daughters, or let someone else do it for you. July is packed full of children's musicals, from Lookingglass Theatre Company's Black Beauty: the Musical (July 7 - Aug. 12), to Victory Gardens' production of the one and only High School Musical (July 15 - Aug. 9), and, at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center, a rock-tastic trip to Oz in The Wiz (July 16 - 22). Even Chicago Shakespeare Theater is joining in on the musical mayhem with How Can You Run With a Shell on Your Back? (July 5 - Aug. 12), which modernizes Aesop's most beloved fables. Of course, CST also has their Short Shakespeare! production of The Taming of the Shrew (July 12 - Aug. 12), an abridged version designed to engage audiences of all ages.

Boston Metro Kids Spotlight: July '07
For family fun, WHAT launches its kids' show, Daisy Crockett (July 9 - August 30), under a big top, while the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly - one of only a handful of venues nationwide to be awarded the show's professional rights - mounts Disney's wildly popular High School Musical (July 3-29), in which pros will mix with some very excited local kids. Also lined up at NSMT: Russian American Kids Circus (July 13), Tap Kids (July 21), and the musical group Hot Peas and Butter (July 27).
