The lineup has been announced for P.S. 122’s COIL Festival, to be presented January 5-15 in multiple venues across the city, including the Abrons Arts Center, The Hudson Hotel, 3lD Art & Technology Center, Atlantic Stage 2, The Collapsible Hole, and The Chocolate Factory. Several of the performances also extend beyond the dates of the festival.

Among the theater pieces which will premiere at the Festival is Annie Dorsen’s Hello Hi There (January 6-22). The show uses the famous television debate between the philosopher Michel Foucault and linguist and activist Noam Chomsky from the 1970s as its inspiration and mines it for its material: a dialogue between two specially developed chatbots.

Other theater companies and artists presenting work during the Festival will be Kim Noble, Vivi Tellas, John Jahnke & Hotel Savant, Teatro Delle Albe, Ain Gordon, Ranters Theatre, Travis Chamberlain, and The Debate Society. Dancers/choreographers in the COIL Festival will be The BodyCartography Project, Jack Ferver, Palissimo, and Brian Rogers, along with the team of Ishmael Houston-Jones, Chris Cochrane and Dennis Cooper.
