Stage and screen star William H. Macy will star in Freaky Deaky, according to a report on Deadline.com. Charlie Matthau is writing and directing the film.

Based on the Elmore Leonard crime novel, the movie focuses on 1960s radicals who use their skills for blowing stuff up for entrepreneurial purposes in the 1970s. Macy will play Woody Ricks, an alcoholic millionaire with a passion for show tunes, showgirls, and a knack for avoiding getting blown up.

Macy was last seen on Broadway in the revival of Speed-the-Plow. The actor is a co-founder of the Atlantic Theater Company, where his credits as performer and director include American Buffalo, The Joy of Going Somewhere Definite, Three Sisters, and Boy’s Life.

He received an Oscar nomination for Fargo and won two Emmy Awards for starring in and co-writing the telefilm Door to Door.
