The original cast recording of the 1983 musical Taking My Turn
With lyrics by Will Holt and music by Gary William Friedman, Taking My Turn featured Margaret Whiting, Cissy Houston, Marni Nixon and Tiger Haynes. The show, which adaptor/director Robert H. Livingston crafted from interviews, focuses on the realities of growing older.
The show won the 1984 Outer Critic’s Circle Award for Best Lyrics/Music and received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Musical. After its Off-Broadway run, the show was seen on PBS’ Great Performances.
