Sam Shepard, Dianne Wiest to Join Diane Keaton, Kevin Kline, Elisabeth Moss, et al. in Darling Companion Film

Dianne Wiest and Sam Shepard, along with Mark Duplass, will join the previously announced Diane Keaton, Kevin Kline, Elisabeth Moss in Darling Companion, according to the Hollywood Reporter‘s Risky Business column. Lawrence Kasdan, who’s co-written the movie with Meg Kasdan, will direct the movie.

The film focuses on a woman (played by Keaton), who loves her dog more than her husband (Kline). Unfortunately, the husband loses the dog after a wedding at the couple’s vacation home in the Rockies.

Wiest has starred on Broadway in All My Sons, Salome, Othello, and In the Summer House, and Off-Broadway in The Seagull, Third, Memory House, and The Art of Dining. She won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadwa. She will soon be seen in the film version of David Linsday-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole.

As a playwright, Shepard won a Pulitzer Prize for Buried Child, and was a Pulitzer finalist for True West and Fool for Love. As an actor, he received an Academy Award nomination for his work in The Right Stuff. Among his many other movies are Fair Game, The Accidental Husband, Black Hawk Down, and Crimes of the Heart.
