Patty Duke Set for Lifetime’s Unanswered Prayers Movie

Patty Duke has joined the cast of the forthcoming Lifetime television movie Unanswered Prayers, according to a report on Deadline.com.

The movie is based on Garth Brooks’ song of the same name and centers on a couple (played by Eric Close and Samantha Mathis) who have their lives turned upside down by a woman (Madchen Amick) who returns home to their small town. Duke will play the mother to Mathis’ character. The cast will also feature Alex Frnka.

Duke was most recently seen on stage as Madame Morrible in the San Francisco company of Wicked. She made her Broadway debut as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker and recreated her performance in the film version, earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her other Broadway appearances include Isle of Children and Oklahoma! Duke’s many television and film credits include The Patty Duke Show, Valley of the Dolls, My Sweet Charlie, and It Takes Two.
