Metropolitan Opera to Offer Public Screenings of Das Rheingold Premiere on September 27

The Metropolitan Opera will present free screenings of the opening night performance of Robert Lepage’s new production of Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold, conducted by James Levine, at 6:45 on Monday, September 27 at Lincoln Center’s Josie Robertson Plaza and on numerous screens in the Times Square area. Ticketing will be required for the Lincoln Center screening.

The production will star Bryn Terfel, Stephanie Blythe, Eric Owens, Gerhard Siegel, Wendy Bryn Harmer, Patricia Bardon, Adam Diegel, Richard Croft, Dwayne Croft, Franz-Josef Selig, Hans-Peter König, Lisette Oropesa, Jennifer Johnson, and Tamara Mumford.

The creative team includes set designer Carl Fillion, costume designer François St-Aubin, and lighting designer. The video images are by Boris Firquet, and the interactive projections are by the Quebec-based company Réalisations.inc.

As previously reported, The Met: Live in HD film series will begin its fifth season with a live transmission of the opera on October 9.
