The Hotel Savant has announced casting for John Jahnke’s Men Go Down (Part 3: Black Recollections) at the 3LD Art and Technology Center, running January 6-23. Jahnke has both written and directed the piece, which will have choreography by Benjamin Ford Asriel.

The piece follows a Greek king who abandons his war torn country for the safety of a cliff-side cave, and who must live an extended thousand year lifespan until he makes a decision about how to handle his human responsibilities. It is part of a trilogy that utilizes the construction of a Greek drama and the sensibility of a classic fairy tale to examine the ramifications of antique guilt on the modern conscience.

The cast will feature Melody Bates, Alexander Borinsky, Tim Eliot, Michael Ingle, Mikeah Jennings, Liz Santoro, Hillary Spector, and Tanisha Thompson.

Jahnke is the founder of Hotel Savant. His other works include The Archery Contest, The Shady Maids of Haiti, and A Parsifal.

The creative team will include Kristin Worrall (sound design), Peter Ksander (scenic design), Ramona Ponce (costume design), Taili Wu (video design), and Bruce Steinberg (lighting design).
