Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler Will Be New American Idol Judges

Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez and rock star Steven Tyler will be the new judges on FOX’s American Idol. They will join original Idol judge Randy Jackson and replace departing judges Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi.

Lopez’s many film credits include The Wedding Planner, Bordertown, Maid in Manhattan, Selena, The Cell and Angel Eyes. Her many albums include This Is Me…Then, Brave, J.Lo, and Rebirth.

Tyler is lead singer for Aerosmith. In addition, he has established a career as an actor appearing in such films as Goodnight, Joseph Parker, and Clubland, and lending his voice to The Polar Express and 9.

The series, which is hosted by Ryan Seacrest, is currently conducting nationwide auditions for contestants for its 10th season.

Past winners of the competition include Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, and Carrie Underwood; contestants have included Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, Adam Lambert, Ace Young, and Diana DeGarmo.
