Emma Hunton, Darryl Winslow, Jeremiah James, Dana Aber, Christian D. White, Christopher Hudson Myers, and Kate Adams will star in the musical Gay Bride of Frankenstein, to be presented as part of New York Musical Theatre Festival, to run September 28-October 18. The show, written by Dane E. Leeman and Billy Butler and directed by Stephen Nachamie, concerns four high school friends who stumble into a night of rock music that can raise the dead.

In other NYMF news, Noah Weisberg, Heath Calvert, Jenna Coker-Jones, Liz Larsen, Leif Huckman, and Kate Rockwell will star in F#@king Up Everything, featuring music and lyrics by David Eric Davis, with a book by Davis and Sam Forman, and direction by Stephen Brackett. The piece is a rock musical comedy set against the backdrop of Brooklyn’s indie music scene.

Two-time Tony Award nominee John Carrafa will direct Academy, conceived and developed by Andrew Kato, with book, music and lyrics by John Mercurio. The story takes place at St. Edward’s Academy where two senior boys make a bet on whether they can influence an unsuspecting freshman to break a few rules in order to succeed.

Donna McKechnie, a Tony winner for the original production of A Chorus Line, will choreograph Cross that River, featuring music, lyrics, and story by Allan Harris and book and direction by Andrew Carl Wilk. The musical depicts the sometimes humorous life and times of a run-away slave who becomes one of America’s first Black Cowboys.

Original Jersey Boys star Daniel Reichard will lead the cast of The Happy Embalmer, with book, music, and lyrics by Mark Noonan and Nick Oddy. The piece is about a lonely embalmer, a pistol-shootin’ Texas madman, a groovy Russian scientist, and one bad-ass Dalai Lama.
