Casting for been announced for the film adaptation of Richard Nelson’s Hyde Park On the Hudson, to be directed by Roger Michell. Nelson has written the screenplay.
The film takes place on the June 1939 weekend that the King and Queen of England visited President Franklin Delano Roosevelt at his upstate New York cottage, in the first-ever visit to America by a member of the United Kingdom monarchy.
Bill Murray will play Roosevelt; Olivia Williams will play Eleanor Roosevelt, and Laura Linney will play FDR’s cousin, Daisy. The cast will also feature Eleanor Bron, Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Marvel, Elizabeth Wilson, and Samuel West.
Nelson’s many plays include Some American Abroads, Two Shakesperean Actors, and James Joyce’s The Dead. His new work, Sweet and Sad, will be presented next month at the Public Theater.
