Kathleen Chalfant to Be Artist-in-Residence at The New School for Drama

Kathleen Chalfant will be the Artist-in-Residence at The New School for Drama during the 2011-2012 academic year.


In the position, Chalfant will teach master classes in the fall and spring semesters. In addition, she will speak about her experience on stage and her approach to theater during a town hall style meeting for the student body of The New School for Drama, to be moderated by New School for Drama Director Pippin Parker.

Chalfant won the Obie Award, Drama Desk Award, Lucille Lortel Award, Drama League Award and Los Angeles Ovation Award for her performance as Vivian Bearing in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Wit. In addition, she was Tony-nominated for her performance as Hannah Pitt in Tony Kushner’s Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. Among her most recent stage appearances are Family Week, Prophecy, and A Delicate Balance.
