FringeNYC Announces 2010 Line-Up

The New York International Fringe Festival has announced its line-up of shows, to be presented at the 2010 festival, playing 20 venues in Lower Manhattan, August 13-29.

The 14th annual festival will include nearly 200 works from 18 US states, along with international productions from 12 countries including Singapore, Italy, France, Ireland, Norway, India and Australia.

Among this year’s selections are Jurassic Parq: The Broadway Musical, written by Emma Barash, Marshall Pailet, Bryce Norbitz and Steve Wargo, with the description saying “you should probably see it drunk”; MacChin: The Lamentable Tragedie of Jay Leno, written and directed by Zachary Stewart, and billed as a “tastelessly irreverent adaptation of Macbeth [that] sheds new light on the Late Night Wars”; Steven Fales’s new autobiographical solo about gay mormons, Missionary Position; Platinum, the 1978 Broadway musical by Bruce Vilanch, Will Holt & Gary William Friedman, in a newly revised version; and Stan Richardson’s Veritas, about a real-life gay witch-hunt at Harvard in 1920.

Other intriguing titles in this year’s Fringe include The Battle of Spanktown, Cats Don’t Grin, Faster Than the Speed of White, Headscarf and the Angry Bitch, Love in the Time of Swine Flu, Picking Palin, Pope! An Epic Musical, South Pathetic, Terms of Dismemberment: A Musical with Heart…and Other Body Parts, and Violators Will Be Violated.
