Neil Patrick Harris to Host 2011 Tony Awards

Neil Patrick Harris will return as host of the 2011 Tony Awards, which will be presented at The Beacon Theatre on Sunday, June 12 and broadcast on CBS. Harris previously hosted the awards show in 2009, and won a 2010 Emmy Award for his work.

Harris was recently seen on stage in the New York Philharmonic’s concert presentation of Company. Among his other stage credits include Assassins, Rent, Sweeney Todd and All My Sons, and he directed the Hollywood Bowl concert staging of Rent last year. He won a second 2010 Emmy Award for his guest starring role on Glee. He was also nominated for his work on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother.

This year, The Book of Mormon has received the most Tony nominations, a total of 14, including one for Best Musical. Among the other multiply nominated shows are The Scottsboro Boys (12), Anything Goes (9), How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (8), The Merchant of Venice (7), Jerusalem (6), The Motherf**ker with the Hat (6), The Normal Heart (5), Sister Act (5), and War Horse (5).
