Billy Elliot Cast Members, Lisa Lambert, Ryan Scott Oliver, Vanessa Hiardy, et al. Set for May Events at 92YTribeca

The 92Y Tribeca has announced its lineup of theater-related events for May.

Ryan Scott Oliver, Shaina Taub, and Ewalt & Walker will take part in the May 12 edition of Behind the Music to be offered at 7pm. The event, entitled Old Myths, New Twists, will feature the songwriters discussing how a new generation of musical theater composers is finding inspiration in myths and fables turning them into dynamic, relevant shows. Lisa Lambert will moderate the conversation.

On May 24 at noon, cast members of Billy Elliot The Musical will perform selections from the show, and participate in a Q&A about the musical, that centers on a young man’s efforts to escape the realities of the British coalmining town in which he lives through dance.

In addition, poet, actress, and playwright Vanessa Hidary will celebrate the release of her first book The Last Raiser Roll in the Bodega at an event to be held on May 25 at 8:30pm. The event will feature Hidary reading selections from the book, which features poems, short stories and the full script of her one-woman show Culture Bandit.
