Actor, director and playwright Austin Pendleton will be the honoree at Classic Stage Company’s annual gala to be held on Monday, May 23 at Bridgewaters at South Street Seaport.
In addition, the evening will feature a musical performance by Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris, which will be preceded by a cocktail reception and dinner. The event will also feature a live auction.
Pendleton’s production of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters was seen at CSC earlier this season. Among his other recent directorial credits are Othello for Oberon Theatre Company and CSC’s production of Uncle Vanya, along with Lisa D’Amour’s Detroit at Steppenwolf in Chicago, which he will also be directing on Broadway this fall. As an author, he is currently represented Off-Broadway with The Minister’s Wife, playing at Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi Newhouse Theater, for which he wrote the book.
As an actor, recent appearances include Romulus Linney’s Love Drunk, Bruce Robinson’s Another Vermeer, Wendy Kesselman’s musical The Black Monk; and Mother Courage and Romeo and Juliet at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park.
