Robert De Niro to Preside Over 2011 Cannes Jury

Robert De Niro has been named the President of the Jury of the 64th Festival de Cannes, to take place from May 11-22, 2011.

De Niro appeared on Broadway in the 1986 play, Cuba & His Teddy Bear, for which he received a Theatre World Award. He has won two Academy Awards, for The Godfather, Part II and Raging Bull, and received nominations for his performances in Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Awakenings, and Cape Fear.

De Niro also co-founded Manhattan’s Tribeca Film Center in 1989, and the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002. As previously reported, he is this year’s recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime Achievement, to be presented to him at the Golden Globes Awards on January 16 in Los Angeles.
