Miss Saigon: The 25th-Anniversary Performance will make its world premiere in U.S. cinemas on September 22, presented by Fathom Events, Universal Pictures, and PictureHouse Entertainment. Captured in front of a live audience at London's Prince Edward Theatre on September 22, 2014, the film features a special finale in which the 25th-anniversary cast is joined on stage by original cast members Jonathan Pryce, Lea Salonga, and Simon Bowman. The performance is produced by Sir Cameron Mackintosh

"Remarkably, the emotional performances of this wonderful cast in close-up seems entirely natural as if they were being shot for the cinema rather than being performed in a 1,700-seat theatre. The clarity of the sound and the sweeping music makes this passionate story even more intensely thrilling and moving on the screen," Mackintosh said in a statement.

The anniversary cast includes Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer, Eva Noblezada as Kim, Alistair Brammer as Chris, Hugh Maynard as John, Tamsin Carroll as Ellen, and Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi.

Featuring a book and lyrics by Alain Boublil, book and music by Claude-Michel Schonberg, lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr., and additional lyrics by Michael Mahler, Miss Saigon is inspired by Puccini's Madame Butterfly. The musical tells the tragic tale of young Vietnamese bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with American GI Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.

Fans will be able to view the event in nearly 200 select movie theaters. Additionally, as previously announced, Laurence Connor's production of Miss Saigon will return to its original home in New York at the Broadway Theatre beginning March 1, 2017. Jon Jon Briones and Eva Noblezada will reprise their roles in New York.
