As usual, Broadway is a decade ahead of Washington.

Even though Broadway is used to operating as a national trendsetter, it came as quite a collective shock when FBI Director James B. Comey quoted Avenue Q's "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" during a speech titled "Hard Truths: Law Enforcement and Race" at Georgetown University.

According to reports, Comey said, in part, "We all — white and black — carry various biases around with us. I am reminded of the song 'Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist' from the Broadway hit, Avenue Q:

Look around and you will find

No one’s really color blind.

Maybe it’s a fact

We all should face

Everyone makes judgments

Based on race."

He ended the speech, saying, "In the words of Dr. King, 'We must learn to live together as brothers or we will all perish together as fools.'"

Quoted in the same speech as Martin Luther King Jr. Not to shabby, Avenue Q.
