William Finn and James Lapine's landmark musical Falsettos will return to Broadway in spring 2016, in a new production directed by bookwriter Lapine. Jordan Roth, president of Jujamcyn Theaters, serves as producer.

Falsettos premiered on Broadway in 1992 and won Tony Awards for Best Score for Finn and Best Book of a Musical for Lapine and Finn. The show consists of two separate musicals, March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, the last two in a trilogy of one-act off-Broadway plays with premiered at Playwrights Horizons. It follows the lives of five people: Marvin, his ex-wife Trina, his psychiatrist Mendel, his son Jason, and his lover Whizzer, who eventually contracts AIDS.

The original production of Falsettos starred Michael Rupert as Marvin, Stephen Bogardus as Whizzer, Chip Zien as Mendel, Barbara Walsh as Trina, Jonathan Kaplan as Jason, Carolee Carmello as Cordelia, and Heather MacRae as Charlotte.

Casting, dates, and additional information about the Broadway production will be revealed in the coming months.
