Carnegie Hall Initiates 2016 Outreach Through Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story

”The Somewhere Project” will include a professional production of the classic musical.

As part of Carnegie Hall's 125th anniversary season, the Weill Music Institute has announced the launch of The Somewhere Project, a citywide exploration of Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Arthur Laurents' classic musical West Side Story, set for March 2016.

The creative learning project will engage students and community members through events in all five New York City boroughs. The project will also feature a large-scale, "professional-level" production of the musical from March 4-6, 2016, at Knockdown Center, a restored factory in Queens, conducted by Marin Alsop (Candide with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra) and directed by Amanda Dehnert.
