That cake had it coming!

On Thursday, December 20, the Tony Award-winning revival of Chicago became the third longest-running show in Broadway history, playing its 6,681st performance. With that milestone, it surpassed the original production of Les Miserables (6,680), and now stands behind Cats (7,485) and The Phantom of the Opera (10,356).

To celebrate the event, the current company, including Amy Spanger (Roxie Hart), Amra-Faye Wright (Velma Kelly), multi-platinum country singer/songwriter Billy Ray Cyrus (Billy Flynn), Carol Woods (Matron "Mama" Morton), and R. Lowe (Mary Sunshine), toasted the show's success over cider and sheet cake during the intermission.

Directed by Walter Bobbie (who received a Tony for his work), this revival of the John Kander/Fred Ebb/ Bob Fosse musical began its life as a presentation of New York City Center Encores! before transferring to Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre in November 1996. It moved to the Shubert Theatre in February 1997, and then the Ambassador Theatre, where it currently runs, in 2003.
