Abraham, Blazer, Krall, Molaskey, Pizzarelli, Taylor, et al. Set for 2009 Tanglewood Season

The Boston Symphony Orchestra has announced its offerings for the 2009 season at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts, to run June 26-September 6.

On July 15, Oscar winner and theater star F. Murray Abraham will star in Stage Music in the Plays of William Shakespeare, directed by Jordi Savali. On August 19 and 20, Michael Tilson Thomas will host and conduct The Thomashefskys: Music and Memories of a Life in the Yiddish Theater, which will directed by Patricia Birch and star Judy Blazer, Neal Benari, Ronit Widmann-Levy, and Eugene Brancoveanu.

Participating artists in the Tanglewood Jazz Festival, which runs September 4-6, include John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey, Paquito d’Rivera, Regina Carter, Nnenna Freelon, Harolyn Blackwell, Mike Garson, Kenny Barron, Mugrw Miller, and Jon Faddis.

Among the many other guest artists who will appear during the 2009 season are Garrison Keillor, Yefim Bronfman, Diana Krall, Emanuel Ax, Joshua Bell, James Morris, Leon Fleisher, Thomas Hampson, Mark Morris, Andre Previn, Sir James Galway, Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Botti, Garrick Ohlson, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gil Shaham, and James Taylor.
