Jessi Campbell, Matthew Del Negro, and Andrew Polk will star in A.C.T.’s production of David Mamet’s comedy about Hollywood, Speed-the-Plow, to run January 4-February 3. The production, which will open officially on January 9, will be directed by Loretta Greco.

The play focuses on two high-powered Hollywood executives, Charlie Fox and Bobby Gould, who plan to work on a high-powered film project until Bobby’s beautiful new secretary, Karen, gets involved. The show’s original 1988 Broadway production starred Joe Mantegna, Ron Silver, and Madonna.

The show’s creative tram includes Skip Mercier (sets), Alex Jaeger (costumes), York Kennedy (lighting), and Jake Rodriguez (sound). Greco’s many directing credits include Lackawanna Blues, Having Our Say, The Story, and Jump/Cut.

Campbell, who will play Karen, has appeared Off-Broadway in Victoria Martin: Math Team Queen and Inky, as well as A.C.T.’s production of Blackbird, all of which were directed by Greco. Del Negro, who will play Bobby, appeared Off-Broadway in Touch and Burning Blue and played the role of Brian Cammarata on HBO’s The Sopranos. Polk, who will play Charlie, received a 2007 Drama Desk Award nomination for The Accomplices and recently starred Off-Broadway in Walmartopia.
