San Diego Rep to Present Paul Magid’s Don Quixote

Paul Magid, the co-founder of the Flying Karamazov Brothers, will co-star in his own adaptation of Don Quixote, which will play San Diego Repertory Theatre’s Lyceum Stage, January 6-February 4. The production, to be directed by Sam Woodhouse, will open officially on January 12.

The show, based on Miguel de Cervantes’ classic novel (which also provides the basis for Man of La Mancha), includes musical numbers, juggling, giant puppets, and other special effects.

The creative team includes Nick Fouch (sets), Jennifer Brawn Gittings (costumes), Jennifer Setlow (lighting), M. Scott Grabau (sound), Gregg Moore (musical direction), Javier Velasco (dance choreography), and Jamie Newcomb and Stephen Morgan-Mackay (fight direction). Woodhouse is the artistic director of San Diego Rep.

Peter Van Norden will star as Don Quixote. His Broadway credits include Macbeth, The Inspector General, Saint Joan, and Little Johnny Jones. His many regional credits include Moonlight and Magnolias, Romance, and Major Barbara. In addition to Van Norden and Magid, the show’s cast also includes Willie G, Suzy Hernandez Peredo, Jennifer Miller, Jasper Patterson, and Michael Preston.
